Rhonda Iwanski, a longtime Sussex County resident who was heavily involved in multiple communities, died on Tuesday, Sept. 17, at Newton Medical Center after a long illness, her obituary on the Wood Funeral Home website says. She was 67 years old. Rhonda, of Sandyston, moved to New Jersey from Florida after meeting her husband, Mark, 28 years ago, her obituary says. Three men were arrested and charged on Friday, Sept. 20 with robbing and sexually assaulting two sex workers in Jersey City on Wednesday, Sept. 11, authorities said. The two women agreed to meet three men, Mohamed Mohamed, 24, Abdalla Abdelsalam Elsayed, 20, and Mahmoud Hegazi, 18, all Jersey City residents, at an apartment on Bergen Avenue in exchange for sex for money, according to a criminal complaint. The 61-year-old man and former chief of a local fire department has been indicted in a crash that left a 15-year-old girl dead, authorities in Bergen County said. It was a sensational Saturday for two lottery players in New Jersey. A ticket sold in Passaic County and a ticket sold online via the Jackpocket app matched all five numbers in the Jersey Cash 5 jackpot drawing held on Saturday, Sept. 21, splitting the $1.748 jackpot, with each winning $874,024. The Passaic County ticket was sold at Little Falls Discount Liquors in Little Falls. The Jackpocket app is based in Hewitt in Passaic County. Irishmen Posed As Phony Roofers: Readington Township PD
Two people from Ireland were arrested and charged on Monday, Sept. 16 with running a scam in Readington Township, pretending to be credentialed roofers, authorities said. In March, Ashley Reilly, 37, presented himself as the owner of Fitzpatrick Construction in Bound Brook with Patrick Ward, 41, who used the pseudonym 'Jack" as his foreman, Readington Township Police said. They contracted with the homeowner to perform roofing and gutter repairs for a price that substantially exceeded what a licensed contractor would have charged for the same repairs, police said. Teen Football Player Airlifted After Losing Feeling In Legs In Sussex County, Police Say
A 13-year-old boy was airlifted to the hospital after he was injured playing football on the evening of Saturday, Sept. 21, in Sussex County authorities said. At 8:11 p.m., the boy was playing football at Station Park in Sparta Township when he temporarily lost feeling in his legs, Sparta Township Police Captain Thomas Snyder said. An Atlantic Air helicopter transported the boy to Morristown Medical Center, Snyder said. The young athlete regained feeling in both legs before the helicopter arrived, but was still hospitalized for for further evaluation, Snyder said.

Man Purposely Hit Goose With E-Bike, Hoboken Police Say
A 30-year-old Hoboken man was arrested and charged on Wednesday, Sept. 11 after he intentionally hit a goose with an e-bike, authorities said. At 5:35 p.m., officers responded to Pier A park on reports that a person hit a goose on purpose with a bike, Hoboken police said. Police found Andrew Mullin, who fit the description of the individual, and arrested him, officers said. Mullin was charged with cruelty to animals and issued summons for riding an e-bike on a walkway, police said. He was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility, police said.

Crash Shuts All Lanes Of Route 78

The ticket was purchased from the Atlantis Fresh Market at the BP gas station on Route 1 in Edison, the New Jersey Lottery said in a news release. Golf Spectators Needed For 'Happy Gilmore 2' Filming In West Orange
There are still roles to fill in the sequel to cult classic "Happy Gilmore" ahead of an upcoming shoot in New Jersey. A recent casting call is seeking golf spectators for the Adam Sandler film. The notice says extras will be portraying 2000s golf spectators on Sept. 24 in West Orange. Actors are needed for about 10 hours of work, or $176.
