Two police officers are recovering from injuries after being shot overnight at a hotel in Woodbridge while attempting to track down a homicide suspect. The suspect was shot and killed at the scene, according to New Jersey Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin. Authorities have released additional information in the double shooting Wednesday, June 12 in Carteret. Two females were found having suffered gunshot wounds on Roosevelt Avenue around 9 a.m., and were airlifted to area hospitals, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Carteret Police Chief Dennis McFadden said. As of 2:30 p.m., one victim had died and the other remains critical, Ciccone and McFadden said. Woman, 21, Shot At Large House Party In Central Jersey
A 21-year-old woman was shot at a large party Friday night, June 7 in Highland Park, authorities said. Police were dispatched to the 200 block of South 7th Avenue at about 11:30 p.m. after getting a call about a disturbance. They found the woman shot three times, Highland Park police said. A 23-year-old man from Woodbridge has been sentenced to five years in New Jersey State Prison for a fatal hit-and-run crash, authorities said. Antonio Rivera was sentenced on Monday, June 3 in connection with a fatal crash that occurred on August 31, 2023, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone. Drag Racing Causes Route 1 Crash That Injures 2 In Edison
Drag racers on Route 1 led to a crash in Edison that seriously injured two people on Thursday, May 23, authorities said. Police were looking for two vehicles that may have contributed to the crash: a white Infiniti G35 and a black Honda Accord, according to police.
