Reassuring Bergen County Dispatcher Erik Midgley, Man Of Many Talents, Dies Suddenly, 47 Erik J. Midgley, a dedicated Bergen County Public Safety dispatcher and lifelong community volunteer, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Nov. 10, according to his obituary on the Hunt-Stellato Funeral Home website. He was 47 years old. Known for his reassuring presence during emergencies, Erik spent many years as the calming voice on the other end of the line for those in crisis, his obituary says. His legacy includes years of volunteer work with the Palisades Park and Fairview Ambulance Corps. Erik worked as a public servant for more than 25 years, including 19 with the Bergen County…

Paterson Man Killed By SUV Was Inspecting His Damaged Car After Minor Crash In NY: Nysp A man who was involved in a minor crash on the New York Thruway was killed when he stepped out of his vehicle to inspect the damage and was struck by a 2018 Ford SUV.  Saul Clark, 55, of Paterson, New Jersey, had gotten out of his vehicle in the southbound lanes of I-87 in West Nyack when he was struck by the passing SUV driven by a Nyack woman just before 10 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, New York State Police Trooper Steven Nevel said. North Jersey Coast Line rail service was suspended in both directions between Red Bank and Long Branch, NJ Transit said on Twitter at 2:22 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8. A pedestrian was hit by a train near Red Bank. The condition of the person wasn't known as of press time. Teen Football Player Airlifted After Losing Feeling In Legs In Sussex County, Police Say A 13-year-old boy was airlifted to the hospital after he was injured playing football on the evening of Saturday, Sept. 21, in Sussex County authorities said. At 8:11 p.m., the boy was playing football at Station Park in Sparta Township when he temporarily lost feeling in his legs, Sparta Township Police Captain Thomas Snyder said.  An Atlantic Air helicopter transported the boy to Morristown Medical Center, Snyder said.  The young athlete regained feeling in both legs before the helicopter arrived, but was still hospitalized for for further evaluation, Snyder said.

Possible Drowning Probed At North Jersey Lake, Police Say Police were investigating a possible drowning at a North Jersey lake over the weekend. A man in his 70s was seen entering Lake Hopatcong but never came out on Saturday, June 22, a spokesperson for the Roxbury Police Department said. The call came in just after 7:30 p.m., bringing the Roxbury Fire Department, New Jersey State Police, and the Morris County Sheriff's Office to the scene. As of Sunday, June 23 at 10 p.m., the investigation remained active, the spokesperson said.
