UPDATE: A man slashed a Clifton police officer in the face, then stabbed himself in the chest as a SWAT team closed in on him Sunday at a Route 3 Howard Johnson's, authorities said. Authorities later identified him as Antwan Whitlock, 35, of Union Township. Whitlock remained hospitalized at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Paterson as of Jan. 5. An 18-year-old Paterson man was charged with the shooting death of an ex-con who himself was wanted for murder, authorities announced Saturday. D’Andre Ruff, 18, and an accomplice shot Michael Richardson outside a BP gas station at the corner of Broadway and Summer Street shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. A worker suffered burns and a guest also was hospitalized with minor injuries in a fire Tuesday night at an infamous hotel on Route 46 in Wayne. Bergenfield Man Shot, Robbed In Paterson Overnight
A 48-year-old Bergenfield man was shot and robbed before dawn Sunday in Paterson, authorities said. The gunman fled with the victim’s wallet and phone following the shooting shortly before 4 a.m. at or near an all-night laundry at Main and Elizabeth streets, they said. The victim went to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in a private vehicle for treatment of non-fatal gunshot wound, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M.
