Crash Closes Jersey Shore Road For Several Hours, Police Say
A crash closed a road in Ocean County for several hours, authorities said. East Veterans Highway was shut down between South Hope Chapel Road and Whitesville Road, the Jackson Township Police Department said in a Facebook post at 2:06 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 1. Traffic was also blocked from Pitney Lane onto East Veterans Highway. Officers said the road would be closed for several hours. Police haven't said how many vehicles were involved or if anyone was injured. Residents living in the area near the crash can notify officers directing traffic to get access to their homes.

Hunter Falls From Tree, Airlifted To Jersey Shore Hospital
A hunter was rescued from woods along the Jersey Shore after falling from a tree stand, authorities said. Tourniquets had to be applied to the 62-year-old man's legs before the man was taken to Liberty High School where he was airlifted to an area hospital, according to Jackson police. The hunter had fallen about 20 feet while climbing down from a tree stand off of South Hope Chapel Road in Jackson, police said. A cable had broken on the stand. Authorities ID Teen Killed In One-Car Jackson Crash
A teenage driver died after losing control of his car and striking several trees near a golf course in Jackson, authorities said. Jackson police identified the motorist killed in the Friday night crash as Austen Hunter, 19, of Jackson. A passenger, Hasson Renouf, 23, of Jackson, was listed in stable condition, police said. The accident was reported at 10:30 p.m. when police officers from the Jackson and Manchester police departments responded to a 911 call about a crash on South Hope Chapel Road.
