Police: Saddle Brook Detective Outwits Walmart Electronics Thieves
Saddle Brook police tracked down two men who they said loaded a pair of shopping carts with home theater equipment and assorted household items and tossed them into the back of a U-Haul parked right outside a Walmart fire exit. Brendan Hunt, 43, of Garfield and Gerard Hill, 53, of Passaic left the truck there for a quick getaway from the Route 46 store around 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Detective Capt. John Zotollo said. A SWAT team standoff at a Saddle Brook motel ended Friday night with the arrest of a former Marine from Somerset County who'd been seized with a gun by the same unit at an Elmwood Park hotel last month. Police: Fleeing Peeping Tom Clips Victim With Car Outside South Hackensack Motel
A peeping Tom caught looking into the windows of a South Hackensack motel room while a couple was having sex clipped one of the victims with his car as he fled, authorities said. Eduardo Moreno was "peering into motel room windows where the curtains were not shut all the way and watching the occupants" at the Congress Inn on Route 46 around 2:45 a.m. Feb. 22, Deputy Police Chief Robert Kaiser said. South Hackensack Detectives ID, Bust Accused Burglar
South Hackensack detectives cracked the theft of a laptop during a local burglary when they arrested a career criminal from Paterson who was staying at an area motel, authorities said. Detective Sgt. James Donatello began by reviewing surveillance video after the victim reported the $2,500 Apple laptop stolen from a vehicle parked outside a local home the night of Feb. 17, Deputy Police Chief Robert Kaiser said.
