Demarest police found a missing Rockland woman who became the subject of a search after her car and phone were left at a shopping center in Closter. Police searching for Amy Clarke, 48, of Tappan found her Lexus SUV after pinging her phone to the Closter Plaza around 10 p.m. Tuesday, Closter Police Detective Lt. Vincent Aiello said. Demarest police found Clarke – who has no direct ties to the area -- on Piermont Road nearly 24 hours later, the lieutenant said. "She's safe and sound," he said.

Seaside Heights Man Charged In Offshore Motel Murder
A 50-year-old man from the Jersey Shore has been arrested on murder charges in connection with a woman's death at a local motel, authorities said. The suspect was found suffering from a drug overdose in a separate motel and later charged with murder, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer Gerardo Ruiz, 50, of Seaside Heights is accused of killing Alecia Perreault, 29, also of Seaside Heights early Saturday morning, Billhimer said. A 62-year-old man from Ocean County jumped to his death from an Atlantic City parking garage, authorities said. Patrol officers found the man next to the Caesars Colosseum parking garage on the first block of south Michigan Avenue. The unidentified victim, from Manahawkin, was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personal shortly after noon on Wednesday, police said. UPDATED: A 32-year-old Trenton man was hospitalized on Tuesday night after being shot, authorities said. The shooting occurred at 8:57 p.m. at 239 E. Hanover and North Stockton streets. Trenton patrol officers arrived and found multiple shell casings in the area, a police spokesman said. While officers were on scene, they were notified of a gunshot victim arriving at Capital Health Reginal Medical Center by a private vehicle, police said. A 32-year-old man from Burlington County was fatally shot late Friday, authorities said. Beverly police officers were called to the Delacove Homes public complex about 10:15 p.m. on a report of a shooting, according to Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina and Beverly City Public Safety Director Rich Wolbert.
