Central Jersey Firefighters Get $4M In Federal Funds To Boost Staffing
Perth Amboy Fire Department will receive $3.6 million in federal aid to increase staff, U.S. Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. announced on Friday, Sept. 1. The federal funding comes from FEMA. Perth Amboy Fire Chief Edward Mullen said that with the funding "we will be able to hire 12 additional firefighters, increasing our personnel to 84," “This is wonderful news for Perth Amboy," Pallone said. "The federal funding will allow the city to maintain adequate staffing to meet the needs of the city’s growing population and keep residents safe and healthy.”

Perth Amboy Neighbors Raise Money For Families Displaced By Fire
Friends, family and neighbors of 30 victims of a weekend fire in Perth Amboy are raising money to support relocation of tenants who lost their apartments and belongings. At least two GoFuneMe fundraising campaigns have been launched for victims of the weekend fire that gutted two multi-family homes on Madison Avenue. The displaced families are being assisted by both the city and the American Red Cross. No residents were injured, fire officials said. : Firefighters Rescue Two Kids, Adult Trapped In Perth Amboy House Blaze
Two children and an adult trapped on an upper floor were rescued by Perth Amboy firefighters during a Friday night house blaze. Four people in all were hospitalized in the Market Street fire, all with injuries that weren’t considered life-threatening, firefighters said. A total of 18 people were displaced, they said.
