Indictment: Paterson Baby Died From Sex Assault
A 17-month-old infant died after being sexually assaulted by a Paterson man, an indictment alleges.
James Davis, 46, and the baby’s mother, Qunasia Coleman, 30, were both indicted by a grand jury in Paterson in connection with the November 2020 incident, authorities said Wednesday.
An ambulance rushed the infant to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center following a call for an unresponsive child at Coleman’s Carroll Street apartment, authorities said at the time.

'No Questions Asked': NJ Buys Back Nearly 1,000 Guns
Authorities collected nearly 1,000 guns during no-questions-asked gun buybacks in Passaic, Essex and Atlantic counties, New Jersey’s top law enforcer said Thursday. They could soon be coming to a location near you.
The firearms came in all sizes, calibers, makes, models and ages, from a pearl-handled derringer to a reported 27 assault weapons.
The total also includes 487 handguns, 281 rifles and shotguns and 146 inoperable weapons and BB/pellet guns, New Jersey Acting Attorney General Andrew J. Bruck said.

Gotcha! City Man Caught, Charged With Murder In Paterson YMCA Stabbing
Paterson police arrested a city man who they said stabbed another to death at the YMCA on Friday.
Jasmir Cleaves, 32, was charged with murder and weapons possession following his arrest shortly before 7 p.m., authorities said.
Cleaves had stabbed Gabrae Sams, 29, on the fifth floor of the Y, on Ward Street, around noon Friday, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora said in a joint announcement.
No motive was given.
Responding officers valiantly tried to save Sams’s life, responders said.

Bookkeeper Charged With Embezzling $75,000 From Passaic County Tile, Grout Company
The bookkeeper at a Passaic County tile and grout company embezzled more than $75,000 from her employer, authorities charged.
Yvette Tripicchio, 47, of Hawthorne, was charged with two counts of theft in an indictment returned by a grand jury in Paterson, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said.
Tripicchio deposited checks from GSD Industries in Pompton Lakes into her personal bank accounts, then “tampered with company records in an attempt to hide the theft,” the prosecutor said.
Valdes didn't disclose the suspected motive.
