'Gyro King' Of North Jersey Seized By Federal Marshals In Labor Department Dispute
The operator of four North Jersey restaurants was seized by federal Marshals on Thursday for defying several court orders that he provide information that the U.S. Department of Labor has repeatedly failed to get from him, authorities said. Samad Uddin -- also known as Saman Khan -- owns Wyckoff-based Manhattan Halal Gyro King, which was incorporated four years ago and offers dine-in, delivery and catering services at "Gyro King" restaurants in Elmwood Park, Teaneck and two in Paterson. UPDATE: Responders furiously tried to save the life a 7-year-old Paterson boy whom authorities said was stabbed dead by his mother early Saturday. Iris Tolentino, 46, also stabbed the dead boy's 17-year-old brother, who was holding a bathroom closed to keep her restrained until police arrived, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. A specialized group of Paterson police officers has begun combing the Silk City around the clock, busting large gatherings, loiterers and operators of non-essential businesses that remain open in violation of a state order, authorities warned Thursday.
