First Dead Whale Of 2024 Washes Up Along Jersey Shore
A dead whale has washed up along the Jersey Shore for the first time in 2024, according to a marine animal rehabilitation center. The Marine Mammal Stranding Center (MMSC) received a report about a humpback whale found in the surf near 51st Street in Long Beach at around 6:45 a.m. on Thursday, Apr. 11. Upside-down, Dead Whale Wedged In NJ Marina
A dead whale was found wedged upside-down between a breakwater and bulkhead in Middletown, authorities said. The 20-foot-long Minke whale was confirmed to be dead at Leonardo State Marina, according to the Marine Mammal Stranding Center. The tide was dropping, making the whale inaccessible to equipment to recover it, the center said. Dead Dolphin Washes Up At State Marina In Middletown
A dead dolphin washed ashore at a state-owned marina in Monmouth County, authorities said. Middletown Mayor Tony Perry, in a Facebook post, announced that the dolphin was found Wednesday evening, March 15, at the Leonardo State Marina on the banks of Sandy Hook Bay. The city had notified state officials, Perry said. Perry asked the public to stay away from the area until the dolphin is removed by professionals.
