Federal immigration authorities placed a hold on a Colombian national jailed on charges of sexually assaulting an underage Elmwood Park teenager at least three times. Alejandro Suaza-Munoz, a 35-year-old day laborer, was arrested by detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Special Victims Unit on Tuesday, July 25, after they were notified of the allegations by Elmwood Park police. A driver for a local teen treatment facility sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl before she locked herself in a Dunkin' Donuts bathroom on Route 17 and got help, authorities said. Police found the girl after a security guard called them to the donut shop on southbound Route 17 in Hasbrouck Heights shortly before 4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 4. A child in her pajamas was found alone and shivering on a busy Hasbrouck Heights street corner Friday morning, authorities said. Officers responding to multiple calls on Jan. 27 found the unaccompanied 5-year-old at the corner of Jefferson Avenue and Terrace Avenue, Hasbrouck Heights Police Lt. John A. Behr said.
