School Bus Driver Fell Asleep Before Crashing Into Howell House, No Children On Board: Police

A 22-year-old bus driver is suspected to have fallen asleep at the wheel before crashing into a house in Howell, authorities said.

The crash into the side of a house occurred at about 7:15 a.m. on Asbury Road.

Lt. Christian Antunez, a Howell Police Department spokesman, said the driver was injured but no children were on board.

The driver was later charged with careless driving and not wearing a seatbelt, he said.

The driver had just dropped students off at Howell High School, he said.

The driver suffered head and facial cuts, he said.

There were no injuries to the occupants of the house, he said.

The bus is owned by Jay's Bus Service.
