Police received multiple theft reports and obtained home surveillance footage of a couple checking for unlocked cars in the Toscana development Friday and Saturday, authorities said.

A resident confronted the two and chased them into the Home Depot parking lot in Howell, police said.

Several cars were entered and valuables were stolen.

"We obtained video footage and have a good idea who they are," police said.

"We ask residents to check their home surveillance for additional footage."

Any victims who did not report the incident to police, even if a vehicle was entered and nothing was stolen, are encouraged to contact Howell police at 732-938-4575.
