Police Investigating Two Swatting Incidents Over Weekend Along Jersey Shore
Police in Cape May County were investigating two swatting incidents in Avalon, authorities said. County dispatchers received a 911 call from someone who claimed a murder was committed at a home on the 7700 block of Dune Drive in Avalon at around 4:22 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 18, the borough's government said in a Facebook post. An important bridge helping travelers reach Cape May could be shut down for many weeks, officials said. A Cape May County corrections officer will spend more than a quarter-century in prison for sexually assaulting a girl younger than 13 years old, authorities said. Jonathan Perez, 35, of Woodbine, was sentenced on Thursday, Aug. 8 to 30 years in state prison, Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland said in a news release. Man Fell Off Pontoon In Cape May County, Gashed By Boat's Propeller: State Police
A man was hospitalized after he was hit by a pontoon boat's propeller in Cape May County, authorities said. A state police spokesperson said the 51-year-old man fell off the front of the pontoon when it hit a large wake in Lower Township at around 7:35 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3. The propeller gashed open the man's stomach and one of his arms. He was rushed to a nearby hospital. The man was expected to survive his injuries, police said.
