Tesla Driver Killed In Fiery Mays Landing Crash, Police Say

A Tesla driver was killed in an early morning crash near Mays Landing, authorities said.

Hamilton Township police responded to the single-car wreck on Mays Landing Somers Point Road near the intersection with Ocean Heights Avenue at around 1:35 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 18.

Investigators said a 2024 Tesla SUV Model Y left the road, crashed into several trees, and caught fire. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver's identity was pending investigation by the Southern Regional Medical Examiner's Office.

Hamilton Township and AtlantiCare paramedics responded to the crash, along with Laureldale and Mays Landing firefighters.
