Toms River Driver, 84, Suffers 'Medical Emergency,' Knocks Down Utility Pole: Police An elderly Toms River man was hospitalized after crashing into a utility pole in Ocean County, authorities said. The 84-year-old man was driving at the intersection of Route 70 and Center Street at around 12:16 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 11, the Lakehurst Police Department said in a news release. He suffered a "medical emergency" and lost control of his vehicle, knocking down a utility pole. Paramedics brought the man to Community Medical Center for treatment. Crash Involving Pedestrian Shuts Down Central Jersey Road, Police Say Police were at the scene of a crash involving a pedestrian in a Monmouth County township, authorities said. Officers responded to the crash on Bethany Road on Monday, Aug. 12, Holmdel police said in a Facebook post at 9:15 a.m.  The crash investigation closed Bethany between Hillcrest and Line roads. Police didn't mention how many vehicles were involved or the condition of the pedestrian.
