Fire Doused At Jewish School In Clifton
A transformer fire downed power lines and extended to the exterior of a private Jewish school in Clifton. The blaze outside the K-8 Clifton Cheder, a religious elementary school on Industrial Avenue, broke out just after noon and went to two alarms within 20 minutes. PSE&G cut the power as firefighters doused heavy flames on the outside and roof of the two-story brick school building. They had the fire knocked down in an hour. No injuries were reported. The building sustained smoke and water damage but none from fire, responders said.

An apparently accidental weekend fire that claimed the life of a Bergen County teenager has staggered many in the community where she was raised, as well as others from area towns and beyond. Riley Boyle, 17, was in the shower when the fire broke out close to the rear entrance of the 2½-story Bonnie Way home around 5:30 p.m. Saturday, responders said. 8,100 Without Power In Central Jersey
Thousands of New Jersey residents were without power on Tuesday due to a fast-moving storm Monday night. The majority of the outages were reported by JCP&L in Monmouth County. As of 10:30 a.m., 8,197 people were in the dark, the company said. Most of those customers were in Atlantic Highlands (1,143), Manalapan (553) and Marlboro (1,507). There were 770 JCP&L customers in Middlesex County were without power while 333 PSE&G customers were also without power in the same area.
