A South Jersey man admitted in federal court Tuesday that he tried to set fire to a police cruiser during a video-recorded riot that broke out following a peaceful protest last spring in Trenton. Killian F. Surveillance video shows a speeding sedan plowing into a group of demonstrators in Manhattan who were demanding the release of ICE detainees at the Bergen County Jail. The NYPD said 52-year-old Kathleen Casillo, of Queens, was charged with reckless endangerment following the incident in the Murray Hill section of Manhattan. A 28-year-old Black Lives Matter leader accused of simple assault during an August protest had the charges against him dismissed. Jamaal Holmes, of Toms River, was charged with simple assault after police said he punched Robert Lay, 68, in the face during the protest. A 61-year-old statue of Christopher Columbus was removed from downtown Trenton on Wednesday morning by a city public works crew as pressure mounts nationwide to remove symbols of oppression. UPDATED: A man climbed to the top of the 17-story Skyscraper tower ride at Casino Pier to protest what he called unfair charges brought against him by local police, according to several news reports. Woman Seriously Injured By Deer Who Ran Into Crowd Of South Brunswick Marchers
A deer that ran into a crowd during a Black Lives Matter protest injured three people including one seriously, authorities said. The deer apparently ran from the South Brunswick High School into the crowd marching on Route 522 at the 5 p.m. march on Friday. A 69-year-old woman was taken to a hospital with a serious head injury, while two others were treated at the scene, police said.
