An officer escaped serious injury when a pole fell onto a police cruiser during a fiery overnight crash involving a stolen car and two fleeing occupants in Ridgefield. The Infiniti sedan was being pursued when it slammed into a traffic light and utility pole at Broad Avenue and Route 5 outside the Ridgefield Fire Co. 1 firehouse shortly after 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13. Newly-released footage shows police preparing to pull an intoxicated and unconscious driver from a vehicle as it rolls down a highway in Central Jersey (scroll for video). The 28-year-old Scranton, PA man traveled about half-a-mile in a Toyota RAV4 before officers stopped it on Route 522 in South Brunswick around 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, local police said. A 14-year-old driver and 15-year-old passenger who were caught after crashing a stolen SUV during a pursuit from Route 3 to Route 21 were carrying key fobs from vehicles swiped as far south as the Jersey Shore, Clifton police said. Two thieves led police on a wild stolen car chase through Bergen County on what became two flat front tires. A Little Ferry police cruiser was struck during the pursuit, which began in Ridgefield and went through several towns -- on highways as well as back streets -- before winding up back there. A man armed with a handgun was arrested following a police chase in Trenton, authorities said. Officers responding to the report of an armed man near Monmouth Street and Walnut Avenue found the suspect, Semaj Reid, who immediately fled the area on Tuesday, July 5, Trenton Police said in a release on Wednesday, July 13.
