Family and loved ones are mourning the death of a teen from Toms River. A GoFundMe page was created in the memory of Diego Rodriguez Garibaldi, who died on Friday, Jan. 26 at 19 years old, according to his obituary. The memorial fundraiser was created after a car crash sent Rodriguez Garibaldi to the hospital. Details in the crash were not immediately available. Despite no rain or snow expected for the week ahead, forecasters are warning residents about the threat of coastal flooding across New Jersey. The National Weather Service said South Jersey will have a threat of minor flooding through 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 8. A coastal flood advisory was issued for Tuesday, Feb. 6 in Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Ocean, and Salem counties. Heroin Kingpin Who Ran Fatal Drug Ring From Atlantic County Jail Eligible For Parole In 9 Years
A man who ran a heroin-selling network from the Atlantic County Jail was sentenced, authorities said. Emery Chapman, 44, of Pleasantville, was sentenced to 21 years in state prison, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office announced on Friday, Feb. 2. Chapman will be eligible for parole after nine years and once he's released, he'll have five years of "intensive parole supervision" under the No Early Release Act. Passenger, 38, Killed After Being Thrown From Pickup On I-295
A 38-year-old woman from Philadelphia was killed after being ejected from a pickup in a crash on Interstate 295 in Gloucester County, authorities said. Troopers responded to a motor vehicle crash on Thursday, Feb. 1 at about 6:58 p.m. on I-295 north in West Deptford. Based on a preliminary investigation, a Chevy pickup truck and Dodge passenger vehicle were traveling northbound on I-295, according to New Jersey State Police. A 22-year-old man from Camden has been convicted of murder in a fatal shooting death, authorities said. Antony Shields was found guilty on Tuesday, Jan. 30, of first-degree felony murder, first-degree aggravated manslaughter, and second-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, according to Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. 'Lost Everything:' 20 People Without Homes In Wildwood Apartment Fire
A fire ripped through an apartment in Cape May County, leaving 20 people without homes, including a man and his pregnant wife. Wildwood firefighters were called to the building at 319 East Juniper Avenue just before 6 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 22, the city's fire department said. The building has six apartments on two floors.
