Man Fell Off Pontoon In Cape May County, Gashed By Boat's Propeller: State Police A man was hospitalized after he was hit by a pontoon boat's propeller in Cape May County, authorities said. A state police spokesperson said the 51-year-old man fell off the front of the pontoon when it hit a large wake in Lower Township at around 7:35 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3. The propeller gashed open the man's stomach and one of his arms. He was rushed to a nearby hospital. The man was expected to survive his injuries, police said.

Robert Lafferty III's Kia Optima veered off the 3500 block of West Malaga Road into the oncoming lane of traffic before hitting a landscaping stone, several mailboxes and a tree before coming to rest, local police said. Lafferty was hospitalized where he was pronounced dead while his 41-year-old male passenger suffered a possible broken wrist, police said. The crash remains under investigation.
