Five teens were accused of stealing a luxury SUV in North Jersey and leading police in Ocean County on a chase, authorities said. Stafford Township police received a report of a stolen vehicle traveling near Route 72 and the Garden State Parkway at around 9:57 p.m. on Friday, Mar. 29. An arrest has been made in a deadly hit-and-run crash that killed a 22-year-old Paterson man and injured another person. A thief who stole a marked Newark police car Thursday was captured a short time later in Nutley, authorities said. Authorities followed the vehicle on GPS after it was stolen at a shopping center on McCarter Highway (Route 21). At one point it was pegged near the Belleville Turnpike bridge from North Arlington, said police who were monitoring the incident. The vehicle then headed north on Route 21 before it somehow became disabled on the highway, they said. A now-former Lodi High School teacher admitted that he collected $550,000 worth of compound medications through bogus claims to an employee benefit program.
