: Lockdown Lifted At North Jersey Hospital
A North Jersey hospital placed on lockdown Monday morning has been reopened and deemed safe, police said. Police requested a temporary lockdown of Newton Medical Center after receiving a report that a possible tenant of 183 High St. may have been seen entering the building carrying a suspected shotgun around 8:25 a.m., Chief Robert Osborn Jr. told Daily Voice. The tenant and weapon were found in a suite at 183 High St. and determined not to be a threat to the public, Osborn said. The elderly man who fired two rounds at officers from a Sussex County parking garage has been charged with attempted murder, Newton Police said. Edwin Greene, 80, called officers from the parking garage under the Newton Town Centre complex stating that he had a gun and was suicidal around 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 25, police said. A 21-year-old New Jersey man was charged with stabbing and seriously injuring a 14-year-old boy at Sussex County's Gingerbread Castle in what police are calling a love triangle dispute. The man, later identified as Steven Rogers, attacked the teen in a fight over a former Gingerbread Castle employee on Dec. 3, Hamburg Police Lt. Jason Tangorra said. Authorities were investigating the discovery of 17 corpses stuffed into a small morgue at one of New Jersey’s largest nursing homes.
