Trapped Worker Rescued From 10-Foot Hole On Jersey Shore
A 26-year-old worker was rescued after becoming trapped in a 10-foot hole on the Jersey Shore Thursday, June 30. The man was helping to dig a footing for a deck at a Carmine Way home in Howell when he became trapped up to his shoulders in dirt around 3:25 p.m., Howell police said. Howell Sgt. Paul Mazzeo, who happens to be a trench-collapse specialist, used construction debris to keep more dirt from collapsing in on him before a trench rescue unit came to the scene. Authorities ID Jersey Shore Driver, 50, Killed In Head-On Crash
Authorities have identified the 50-year-old Neptune motorist killed in a three-vehicle crash on Route 33. Robert C. Johnson died after a pickup headed west in the area of Colts Neck Road veered onto the eastbound side of the highway, sideswiped a sedan and then collided with his car head-on, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office said. The crash occurred at 12:05 a.m. on Friday, March 11. Child Suffers Head Injury While Sledding In Central Jersey: Developing
A child was seriously hurt in a Central Jersey sledding accident, according to developing reports. The mishap occurred about 2:30 p.m. Friday near Grand Teton Avenue and Newtons Corner Road in Howell Township, initial reports said. Brick Officers Struck By Car Breaking Up Wild House Party
A pair of Brick Township police officers breaking up a wild house party and street revelers were struck by a vehicle -- sending one of the officers to the hospital, authorities said. Darius Edwards, 24, of Brooklyn, fled in a white Mercedes Benz after hitting Brick Officer Joseph Riccio and a detective overnight Monday, Sgt. Jim Kelly later said. Riccio was treated for a knee injury at Ocean Medical Center, while the detective was not injured, Kelly said.
