Exposure To Rat Poison Sends Glen Rock HS Student, Staffers, Police Officer, EMTs To Hospital
A Glen Rock High School student, five school staffers, a police officer and two EMTs were all hospitalized following exposure to a rat poison that the youngster brought in on Monday, authorities said. The student had a reaction to the rodenticide known as Thallium, Glen Rock Police Chief Dean Ackermann said. All nine people taken to The Valley Hospital and Hackensack University Medical Center on Oct. 2 -- including the student -- were medically cleared, the chief said. Rampaging Glen Rock Teens Destroy Statue, Stop Train Service, After Graduation
As many as 100 teens ran wild following Glen Rock High School’s graduation, stopping train service, damaging an event area and stealing a statue of the school mascot, authorities said. The panther statue “was returned to our campus after a gracious parent put out the call for a return,” Principal Michael Parent said. It was destroyed, however, the principal said in an email to the parents of school seniors. Parent called the rampage a “disgraceful act” that he said was “committed by our own students. Detectives were investigating racially biased Instagram posts by a Glen Rock High School student when the teenage bigot struck again, this time targeting another classmate over gender identity on Zoom, authorities said. Detectives were a month into their investigation of racial bias when administrators at the high school showed them “questionable comments” entered during a school Zoom session, Police Chief Dean Ackermann said.
