UPDATE: Authorities on Thursday tentatively identified a man whose body was recovered from the Passaic River following a police chase. They also officially acknowledged that the incident was being investigated. 'History Of Ongoing Abuse': Garfield Man Charged With Severely Shaking 3-Month-Old Baby
A warehouse worker living in Garfield was jailed after physicians found that a hospitalized 3-month-old child had suffered a history of ongoing physical abuse. ICE issued a detainer on Dominican-born Nelson Ventura Delacruz, 31, who remained held in the Bergen County Jail on Saturday. A Hackensack man with a history of fighting with police tried to disarm a Garfield officer during a struggle in an ambulance, authorities said. Michael Rufrano, 45, was acting irrational when officers responding to a 911 call found him outside a home on Garwood Court North, Capt. Richard Uram said Friday. The front end of a tandem tractor-trailer toppled a traffic signal after a sedan slammed into it before dawn Thursday on a major roadway near the Meadowlands, authorities said.
