Atlantic City police were crediting automated license plate readers for helping arrest two men with a gun and a stolen vehicle, authorities said. Daniel Ringgold, 37, of Pennsauken, was arrested on Thursday, Sept. 19, the Atlantic City Police Department said in a news release on Friday, Sept. 27. Investigators said Ringgold was driving a vehicle on Atlantic Avenue at around 5:15 p.m. when his license plate was read, triggering an alert. Ringgold had several active arrest warrants. Social Media Stoked Fear Over Misinterpreted Blackboard Message, Cresskill Schools Chief Says
UPDATE: Translators from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security who are fluent in Arabic found that a message written by a student to her brother on a classroom blackboard at Cresskill High School was misinterpreted and harmless, officials said. "The writing contained no threat or criminal intent," and an alleged translation that circulated via social media was "inaccurate and misinterpreted," Cresskill Schools Supt. Trenton Man Arrested For Lying About Fatal Shooting, Police Say
A 23-year-old man from Trenton has been arrested for lying to police in connection with a fatal shooting, authorities said. Xzavier Williams was arrested at his Trenton residence on Tuesday by Homicide Task Force members, according to Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri. He was released on a summons pending future court proceedings. Williams is charged with giving false information to law enforcement officers, a third-degree crime, Onofri said.
