Police ID Jersey Shore Drowning Victim, 46
Authorities have identified the man who drowned Wednesday, Sept. 14 off Ortley Beach. Matthew Mauro, 46, was brought to shore by Seaside Heights Beach Patrol units via jet skis around 1:55 p.m., Toms River police said. CPR was immediately initiated before Mauro was taken to Community Medical Center. He was pronounced dead by hospital staff. Toms River police, Seaside Heights Beach and Fire units, Tri-Boro First Aid, TRPD CSO's and RWJ Paramedics all assisted with resuscitation efforts.

A missing swimmer was pulled from the waters off the Jersey Shore Saturday, Sept. 10, sources with direct knowledge of the incident tell Daily Voice. PA Dad Dies, Son Rescued Swimming In Ocean City: Report
A 56-year-old Pennsylvania dad drowned and his son was rescued by lifeguards after trying to save him while swimming off Ocean City, NJ, 6abc reports. Shawn Reilly's 21-year-old son ran into the water after him on Thursday, Sept. 8 at the unprotected 12th Street beach, the outlet said. A 28-year-old mother who rescued her two young children from drowning has recovered from critical injuries, authorities said. The woman, identified only as Kassandra on Facebook, ran into the water but was overcome by strong currents, Brigantine police said. How a financial adviser who was found in the surf off Sea Bright died remained a question entering the weekend. Authorities weren't sure whether Henry C. An Atlantic City police officer rescued a man who was drowning, authorities said. The visitor from Dubai had fallen off a dock, they said. UPDATE: A 1-year-old boy was clinging to life after his mother pulled him from their backyard pool in Paramus, authorities said. Officers rushed to an emergency call at the Beechwood Drive home shortly before 7 p.m. Monday and found the woman conducting CPR, responders said.
