Pleasantville Rallies Around Family After Fire Destroys Home
In an instant, Ashley Martinez's Pleasantville home was engulfed in flames, leaving her and nine other people with nowhere to go.
At 5:44 a.m., on Tuesday, Oct. 28, firefighters responded to a structure fire on the 500 block of Wesley Avenue and found heavy fire in the single-family home, the Pleasantville Fire Department said.
Martinez was living in the home with her mom, two brothers, her brother's girlfriend, the girlfriend's two kids and two other family members.

A Howell Township family is pleading for help after their home was badly damaged in a fire.
Andrea Flores set up a GoFundMe page for her family after their house caught fire at around 6:20 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 21. More than $7,900 had been raised from at least 188 donations as of Wednesday, Jan. 24.
Flores said the flames destroyed the kitchen, dining area, and part of the living room. While the rest of the house wasn't burned, everything inside was damaged by smoke, including all of the family's clothing.

NJ Man Admits Hatching $400,000 Homeless GoFundMe Scam
The mastermind of a GoFundMe scheme that conned 14,000 donors across the country out of $400,000 to purportedly benefit a homeless veteran admitted in federal court in New Jersey on Monday that he and his ex-girlfriend pocketed most of the money.
Mark D’Amico, 42, formerly of Bordentown, admitted concocting a bogus feel-good story about the supposed victim coming to the rescue of Katelyn McClure after she ran out of gas on Route 95 on her way home to New Jersey from Philadelphia.
Both McClure and the homeless man, Johnny Bobbitt Jr., were in on the scheme, authorities said.
