Ax-Wielding Man Who Forced Ex-GF Into Sex Heads To NJ State Slammer, Prosecutor Says
A hatchet-wielding 50-year-old man who forced an ex-girlfriend to have sex was sentenced to 25 years in New Jersey State Prison, authorities said.
Julio Sigurani, Jr., of Deerfield, was sentenced on Monday, May 13, according to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-Mcrae. Sigurani was convicted at a trial of sexual assault and kidnapping, Webb-McRae said.
The charges stemmed from a sexual assault that occurred on Aug. 13, 2020, in Deerfield. The defendant and victim had previously been in a relationship, the prosecutor said.

South Jersey Driver Indicted In Hit-Run Crash Killing 10-Year-Old Girl: Prosecutor
A grand jury has indicted a Cumberland County woman who allegedly struck a child with her SUV, then drove away without helping the girl, authorities said.
Sierra A. Thomas, 28, of Bridgeton, was driving on May 10, 2023, when police said her SUV struck Larissa Muniz as she crossed East Broad Street in Bridgeton near a Wawa.
Larissa, 10, died of her injuries 18 days later.
Thomas initially was charged on May 30 with second-degree leaving the scene of an accident resulting in the death of another, according to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae.

Woman, 25, Shot Dead In Cumberland County: Prosecutor
A 25-year-old Vineland woman was shot and killed, authorities said.
In the early morning hours of Thursday, Sept. 7, 2023, Shanelle Stewart of Vineland was found dead inside a vehicle in the 2000 block of Wheaton Avenue, Millville having succumbed to her injuries, according to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae.
Alex Blocker, 34, of Bridgeton, was arrested by members of the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office and Millville Police Department. Blocker has been charged with murder and weapons offenses, the prosecutor said.

A 28-year-old Ohio man has been convicted in connection with a double-fatal shooting in Cumberland County, authorities said.
Michael R. Loftin, Jr., of Cincinnati, OH, was convicted after a 12-day jury trial of first-degree conspiracy to commit murder, according to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae.
Loftin was acquitted on Wednesday, Aug. 9 of two counts of first-degree murder, aggravated assault and weapons offenses, she said.

A 29-year-old Cumberland County man has been sentenced to 40 years in New Jersey State Prison for a fatal shooting, authorities said.
Frank J. Baker, of Seabrook, was sentenced in connection with the murder of Jair Rennie, 22, according to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae.
Baker apparently was jealous of his ex girlfriend’s new boyfriend, so shot him four times, prosecutors have said.

Herbert R. Lee Jr., 36, of Bridgeton, was shot to death July 30 while trying to break up a fight at Maplewood Gardens apartments. He was survived by six children, a fiancée and a sister.

Michael N. Tedesco, 41, of Millville in Cumberland County also received a five-year prison sentence, to be served consecutively, for a probation violation, according to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae.

Bridgeton police were called to the 100 block of Vine Street for shots fired late Friday night, Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae said.
