Toms River Driver, 84, Suffers 'Medical Emergency,' Knocks Down Utility Pole: Police An elderly Toms River man was hospitalized after crashing into a utility pole in Ocean County, authorities said. The 84-year-old man was driving at the intersection of Route 70 and Center Street at around 12:16 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 11, the Lakehurst Police Department said in a news release. He suffered a "medical emergency" and lost control of his vehicle, knocking down a utility pole. Paramedics brought the man to Community Medical Center for treatment. 11 Students, Two Drivers Hospitalized In Jersey Shore Crash Thirteen people were injured, including 11 students on their way to school, after a luxury car and a van crashed in Ocean County, authorities said. Manchester Township police responded to the crash at the intersection of county routes 571 and 547 at around 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Apr. 16, the department said in a news release.
