Driver Dies After Car Flips Into Toms River Marsh
A 28-year-old Toms River man died after his car overturned into a marsh Saturday, Nov. 26, authorities said. Paolo Helfers-Lariva was believed to have been speeding southbound on Hooper Avenue when he lost control and overturned into the water at the South Shore Driver intersection around 2:25 a.m., Toms River police said. Two occupants were able to free themselves but Helfers-Lariva remained trapped and submerged. Police ID Jersey Shore Drowning Victim, 46
Authorities have identified the man who drowned Wednesday, Sept. 14 off Ortley Beach. Matthew Mauro, 46, was brought to shore by Seaside Heights Beach Patrol units via jet skis around 1:55 p.m., Toms River police said. CPR was immediately initiated before Mauro was taken to Community Medical Center. He was pronounced dead by hospital staff. Toms River police, Seaside Heights Beach and Fire units, Tri-Boro First Aid, TRPD CSO's and RWJ Paramedics all assisted with resuscitation efforts.

A 30-year-old Toms River woman was high on pot when she caused a four-car crash that left two people dead last March, authorities said. Danielle Bowker was behind the wheel of a 2018 Honda Civic heading westbound on Route 571 when she swerved while negotiating a right-hand curve around 7:15 a.m. March 29 in Manchester, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Motorist Killed In South Jersey Crash: Police
A 75-year-old motorist was killed in a single-car crash near Joint Base McQuire-Dix-Lakehurst, authorities said. On Sunday, June 5, at approximately 7:37 p.m., members of the Manchester Township Police Department responded to Route 547 just north of the military base entrance. A 57-year-old man from Burlington County has been indicted in connection with the drug overdose death of an Ocean County man, authorities said. The 29-year-old victim overdosed on cocaine laced with fentanyl, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer. Beloved North Jersey Native and Monmouth University graduate Julitta D'Adamo-Filosa died unexpectedly at Community Medical Center on Monday, April 11. She was 35. A 54-year-old motorist from Sussex County was killed after her van struck a guardrail and flipped along the Garden State Parkway in Ocean County, authorities said.
