A beach in Cape May was shut down after a man was found dead, authorities said. Cape May police found the roughly 50-year-old man's body early in the morning on Monday, Aug. 26, Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland said in a news release. His body was discovered on Cove Beach near the end of Beach Drive. The man's death wasn't considered suspicious. "There is no threat to the public and the preliminary investigation has revealed no foul play is involved," Sutherland said. Four Marina Employees Suffer Smoke Inhalation During Boat Fire In Wildwood, Firefighters Say
Four people suffered smoke inhalation after a large boat caught fire at a marina in Wildwood, officials said. The fire started on the boat docked at Schooner Island Marina at around 12:39 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22, the City of Wildwood Fire Department said in a Facebook post. When firefighters arrived, they found the roughly 42-foot boat named "Luv-It" engulfed in flames. The fire spread to the dock and a nearby small shed. A garbage truck crashed into a building in Cape May and nearly caused outdoor porches to collapse, authorities said. Taking a vehicle on the Cape May-Lewes Ferry this summer is going to come with a price. A higher one. The commission for the Delaware River and Bay Authority (DRBA) approved a new fare schedule for the ferry, the DRBA announced on Monday, Feb. 5. The new rates will go into effect on Monday, Apr. 1. A boater out of Jersey City was reunited with his family last week after he went missing sailing to Bermuda, the Coast Guard said. No one had heard from the mariner since Monday, Nov. 6, and the Coast Guard Atlantic Area command center began a search and rescue effort, the Coast Guard said. Fugitive Arrested In Atlantic City Stabbing: Police
A tip led to the arrest of a 32-year-old fugitive in an Atlantic City stabbing, authorities said. Anthony Mincey of Atlantic City was wanted in connection with an Aug. 16 stabbing in which a 29-year-old man from Cape May was seriously injured, police said. Mincey was charged with aggravated assault and weapons offenses. He was taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility. Woman Hit Child With Skee-Ball At Jersey Shore Arcade: Police
Cape May police seek the public's help in identifying the woman in the white dress. She was involved in a disagreement with another patron of the arcade. Tornado Watch In Effect For South Jersey
A tornado watch is in effect for 10 counties in New Jersey until 11 p.m. Monday Aug. 7, according to the National Weather Service. The tornado watch includes Mercer, Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem counties, the NWS said. Also, the tornado warning was extended to Hunterdon and Warren counties. There also is a watch for severe thunderstorms from Cumberland County north to Trenton. A slighter chance of thunderstorms exists along the Jersey Shore.
