Roadside Miracle: First Responders Deliver Baby On Garden State Parkway A newborn girl named Amelia made a dramatic entrance into the world on the side of the Garden State Parkway with the help of Cape May County first responders. Upper Township paramedics and Seaville firefighters were called to the northbound side of the parkway at around 9:03 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21, Seaville Fire Rescue said in a Facebook post. A mother in labor had pulled over near milepost 21, unable to reach the hospital in time. Atlantic County Man Sentenced For Handgun Possession A 22-year-old man from Absecon was sentenced to New Jersey State Prison for the unlawful possession of a handgun, authorities said. Quasir Smith was sentenced on Tuesday, May 9 to a five-year state prison term, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office. On Feb. 10, 2022, Galloway Township Police responded to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center – Mainland Campus, for a report of a handgun found on Smith by hospital personnel, the prosecutor said. Smith did not have a permit to carry the handgun.  He was subsequently placed under arrest.
