A man sentenced to 85 years in prison for shooting two police officers in 2006 has lost his latest appeal. Christopher Blank, 42, has been appealing his case in State and Federal courts ever since 2008, when he was convicted of shooting Egg Harbor Township officers in a motor vehicle stop. NYC Victim ID'd In Fatal Atlantic City Shooting
Authorities have released the name of a 25-year-old New York City man who was shot and killed in Atlantic City. Dameer Smith was shot once at 9:27 p.m. on Friday on the 1300 block of Pacific Avenue, the Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner said on Monday. Atlantic City Police Department and EMS found Smith on the street with a gunshot wound, Tyner said. He was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Campus where he was pronounced dead, Tyner said. No arrests had been made. After an investigation into several complaints of alleged misconduct by Linwood Police Chief John Hamilton, the Linwood Police Department will be supervised by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, authorities said. “As such, I am compelled to exercise the authority over the day to day activities of the Linwood Police Department until further notice,” Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. A man and woman have been indicted in connection with the execution-style shooting of a 17-year-old-in Atlantic City, authorities aid. Lewis Johnson, 31, of Newark and Shaquana Lewis 35, of Pleasantville, were arrested in June and charged with killing a teenager. A Newark man has been arrested in connection to the theft of more than $1.76 million from an armored van outside Bally’s Casino, authorities said. Dante J. A 39 year-old man from Philadelphia has admitted to bludgeoning his younger brother to death last year at Harrah’s Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, authorities said. John A. Villante pleaded guilty on Thursday in an open plea to first-degree aggravated manslaughter, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner said.
