Pedestrian, 58, Killed In South Jersey Hit-And-Run Crash: Police

Police were looking for whoever killed a Turnersville man while walking on a Gloucester County road at night, authorities said.

John DeMarco, 58, died in the hit-and-run crash on Monday, Nov. 4, the Washington Township Police Department said in a news release. Officers responded to the scene at around 8:09 p.m.

Investigators said DeMarco was struck by an unknown vehicle while walking on the southbound side of Fries Mill Road near the intersection with Adele Drive. DeMarco was rushed to Cooper University Hospital where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.

The vehicle involved in the crash left the scene and wasn't identified. Fries Mill Road was closed for about two hours.
