Update: 2 People Shot In South Jersey

UPDATED: Two people were wounded by gunfire in South Jersey, authorities said.

The multiple shooting occurred at 5:37 a.m. Tuesday on James Avenue in Southampton Township, according to a New Jersey State Police spokesman.

When troopers arrived, they found two victims who were wounded during this incident, according to State Police Lt. Adam Dewechter.

Both were transported to an area hospital and the extent of their injuries is unknown at this time,  Dewechter said.

The scene is secure and there is no threat to the public,  Dewechter said.

This is an active investigation and there is no further information at this time.
