Boy, 12, Dies From Tree Falling In Central Jersey Backyard: Police A Lawrence Township boy was killed when a tree fell on him in a backyard, authorities said. The 12-year-old died on Monday, Oct. 14, the Lawrence Township Police Department said in a news release. Officers responded to the 100 block of Eldridge Avenue at around 12:09 p.m. Police freed the boy from under the tree and began CPR. Lawrence paramedics rushed him to Capital Health System Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead from his injuries. Investigators said the boy was playing with a friend in his backyard when the tree was blown over by gusty winds. …

Zuwairul Ameer, 61, and Claudette Ameer, 63, pleaded guilty on Monday, Aug. 26 to conspiracy to commit immigration fraud, New Jersey's U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger said in a news release. Body Recovered From Delaware & Raritan Canal In Mercer County First responders were pulling a body from the Delaware & Raritan Canal in Mercer County on Wednesday afternoon, July 3, authorities said. New Jersey State Park Police and the Trenton Fire Department’s Water Rescue Team were called to a part of the canal in Lawrence Township to recover the body, according to Caryn Shinske, a spokeswoman with the state Department of Environmental Protection. A medical examiner was en route to the scene at 2:15 p.m., she said.  Additional details weren’t immediately available.
