Tuberculosis is an illness caused by bacteria resulting in an infection that typically affects the lungs. According to the American Pulmonary Association, a person must have close contact with the infected person for a substantial length of time to get tuberculosis.
The disease can be treated and cured with medication and the student is recovering and doing well, Chiera said.
