The Lego Group and The Pokémon Company International will begin a multi-year partnership, the companies announced in a joint news release on Tuesday, Mar. 18. The first official collaboration between the two global brands will bring Lego Pokémon sets to stores in 2026.
While this is Pokémon's first partnership with Lego, the franchise has previously teamed up with Mega Bloks, a competing building toy brand owned by Mattel. The shift to Lego marks a major move for Pokémon, expanding its brick-built universe with one of the most recognized names in construction toys.
While details on specific sets haven't been revealed, fans can expect to see some of the most loved Pokémon characters in Lego form for the first time.
"We are thrilled to be working with a brand that has such a deep and passionate fanbase as Pokémon, partnering to give our joint audiences what they have been asking us for," said Julia Goldin, Lego's chief product and marketing officer. "We strongly believe that through the endless possibilities of Lego play and the exciting adventures the world of Pokémon brings, this partnership will create a range of new possibilities for trainers and builders alike."
Pokémon Company executives echoed the enthusiasm, calling the highly anticipated collaboration a natural fit.
"The Lego Group and Pokémon have strong shared values of imagination, creativity, and fun, making this the perfect partnership," said Gaku Susai, Pokémon's chief product and experience officer. "Working with the best-in-class team at the Lego Group has culminated in an innovative and groundbreaking collaboration that will surprise and delight fans."
Fans shared in the excitement after an Instagram video teaser was released, showing Pikachu's tail created from Lego bricks.
"I've waited my whole life for this 😭," one commenter wrote.
"Oh dang.... Gotta catch them all (my poor wallet)," another person commented.
The companies also said fans should "keep their binoculars peeled and their Pokédex ready" for more information about the collaboration in the coming months.
