Fishing Boat Accident Closes Two Mile Bridge
The Middle Thorofare Two Mile Bridge was closed due to a boat crash on Saturday, Aug. 31, officials said. Wildwood Crest Mayor Don Cabrera posted a statement around 6:15 a.m. saying the 85-year-old bridge was struck by a fishing vessel. It had not reopened as of 9 a.m. "If you are traveling from the Wildwoods or into Wildwood’s early this morning and plan to use this bridge you may want to take alternate routes," the mayor said. The bridge had been closed earlier this month after the drive shaft broke.

Drunk Woman Dunked Boy Underwater, Groped Father At Jersey Shore Motel Pool: Police
A Philadelphia woman was accused of dunking a boy underwater in a pool and groping his father at a Cape May County motel, authorities said. Fallan Turner, 43, was arrested on Monday, June 17, the Wildwood Crest Police Department said in a news release. Officers responded to a report of a fight at a motel on the 6200 block of Ocean Avenue at around 2:29 p.m. Investigators said Turner was "highly intoxicated" when she grabbed an unrelated 10-year-old boy, swung him around in the pool, and dunked him underwater. A Camden County man was accused of passing out in the driver's seat with a gun and several other weapons in his vehicle in Wildwood Crest, authorities said. Samuel Beatty, 24, of Haddon Township, was arrested on Sunday, June 16, the Wildwood Crest Police Department said in a news release on Tuesday, June 18. Roofing Work Causes Fire, $50K In Damage To Wildwood Home: Firefighters
A fire broke out at a Cape May County home about four blocks from the beachfront, officials said. Wildwood firefighters responded to the house on the 100 block of East Roberts Avenue at around 3:36 on Wednesday, May 22, the department said in a Facebook post. The first crew on the scene saw smoke coming from the back and roof of the two-story home. All humans inside the two-family house were able to get out safely.
