An elderly driver hit a pedestrian at an intersection in Longport, authorities said. The crash happened at the intersection of Atlantic and 27th avenues at around 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 14, the Longport Police Department said in a news release. Investigators said the 91-year-old Margate woman was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Cruz on South 27th Avenue. She was turning east onto Atlantic Avenue when she struck a 53-year-old Linwood woman. Nearby Workers, Bystanders Rush To Help Fiery Crash Victims In South Jersey
Bystanders and employees at nearby businesses were praised for helping the two victims of a fiery crash in Atlantic County, authorities said. Egg Harbor Township police responded to the crash near 2511 Fire Road at around 9:37 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10, the department said in a news release. The crash was in front of the Bellevue Commons business complex. Investigators said a 31-year-old Ocean City man was driving a 2022 Ford Ranger south on Fire Road and a 24-year-old Margate man was driving north in a 2008 Hyundai Accent. You might want to check your credit card statement if you recently took a popular bridge to get to Margate. In a Facebook post, the Downbeach Express said it double-charged some customers on Thursday, June 27. The privately owned toll bridge between Northfield and Margate charges drivers $2.50 each way or $1.85 for Express Pass users. Jersey Shore Postal Worker Injured In Van Fire
A United States Postal Service worker was injured when his van caught fire in Atlantic County, officials said. Margate firefighters and police responded to the fire on Clarendon Avenue near Amherst Avenue at around 1:40 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, the fire department said in a Facebook post. Firefighters arrived within two minutes and put out the flames. Paramedics brought the male postal worker to Shore Medical Center after he was checked by firefighters.
