Two Boaters Rescued At Night From Sailboat Stuck Along Jersey Shore, Firefighters Say
Two people were rescued from a sailboat caught in choppy waves at night off the coast of Brigantine, officials said. A 35-foot sailboat got stuck in shoals at around 9 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 8, the Brigantine firefighters union said in a Facebook post. The boat was sailing from Barnegat to Absecon Inlet. Central Jersey Man Stabbed VA Man During Fight Over Cellphone At Motel, Police Say
An Eatontown man was accused of stabbing a Virginia man during a fight at a Wall Township motel, authorities said. Geraldo Voglino, 37, was arrested on Sunday, Sept. 8, the Wall Township Police Department said in a news release. Officers responded to the stabbing report at the Economy Inn on Route 35 at around 3:30 p.m. Police found the 50-year-old man from Hampton, VA, with multiple stab wounds to his stomach and back. A former South Toms River police officer died when his motorcycle crashed with a dirt bike on the Garden State Parkway, according to a fundraising campaign. A Hamilton Township pedestrian was killed while crossing a busy intersection, authorities said. The 65-year-old man died at the intersection of Nottingham Way and Klockner Road on Friday, Sept. 6, the Hamilton Police Division said in a news release. Sidewalk Save: Bodycam Footage Shows NJ Officers Saving Choking Baby
Newly-released body-worn camera footage shows two New Jersey police officers saving a choking baby. Hightstown Officers Daniel Abbatemarco and Kenneth Larsen responded to a call of a choking baby girl on March 31. Upon arrival, they were met by a man holding the girl. Larsen arrived on scene and quickly performed the Infant Heimlich Maneuver on the girl, who was breathing again in a matter of seconds. A 26-year-old motorcyclist was killed and a 49-year-old dirt bike operator was seriously injured in a crash Sunday, Sept. 8 on the Garden State Parkway in Toms River, authorities said. Antonio Caprara, 26, of Beachwood, was heading south on the right shoulder while Lenny Ritorto, of Toms River, was heading south on the acceleration lane from the Exit 81 entrance ramp when the two collided near milepost 81.7 around 1 p.m., New Jersey State Police Sgt.
