A Morris County corrections officer found himself on the other side of the law. Justin Jasiecki, 24, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence following a two-car crash in Denville on Friday, Jan. 17, Denville police said. At 11:23 p.m., officers responded to the crash on Route 53 and an investigation determined Jasiecki was under the influence of alcohol, police said. Careless Driver Cited After Fatally Striking Crossing Guard: Hunterdon County Prosecutor
A 57-year-old Glen Gardner man was issued a summons on Thursday, Jan. 2 for careless driving after fatally striking a crossing guard in High Bridge in November, authorities said. On Wednesday, Nov. 27, Steven Leydon failed to yield and fatally struck Robert Bork, a 79-year-old High Bridge resident on County Road 513, Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée Robeson, Chief of Detectives Timothy Drew, and High Bridge Police Chief Brett Bartman said. Randolph Teen Fatally Struck By Vehicle: Prosecutor
An 18-year-old Randolph resident was fatally struck by a vehicle on the evening of Friday, Nov. 29, authorities said. Maria Lorena Orellana-Valverde was struck by a 2022 Honda HRV at the intersection of Route 10 and Cedar Grove Road, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office said. Orellana-Valverde was transported to Morristown Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries, authorities said. The incident remains under investigation, authorities said.

A 13-year-old boy was airlifted to the hospital after he was injured playing football on the evening of Saturday, Sept. 21, in Sussex County authorities said. At 8:11 p.m., the boy was playing football at Station Park in Sparta Township when he temporarily lost feeling in his legs, Sparta Township Police Captain Thomas Snyder said. An Atlantic Air helicopter transported the boy to Morristown Medical Center, Snyder said. The young athlete regained feeling in both legs before the helicopter arrived, but was still hospitalized for for further evaluation, Snyder said.
