NJ Woman Left Child Locked In Vehicle At Wegman's In Below Freezing Temps: Police
A 42-year-old Rockaway woman was arrested and charged on Monday, Dec. 23 after leaving a child unattended, locked in a vehicle, authorities said. Officers responded to Wegmans at 34 Sylvan Way in Whippany and found the child locked in the vehicle, the Hanover Township Police Department said. The high that day was 27 degrees. Tatiana Petrina was charged with child abandonment and released with a court date, police said. The child was unharmed during the incident, police said.

A 40-year-old German man was sentenced to 20 years in prison on Wednesday, Dec. 18 after admitting he traveled to New Jersey to have sex with a minor, authorities said. A 43-year-old Union man was charged last month with unlawfully transporting Irish citizens who entered the United States illegally, authorities said. On Sunday, Sept. 8, nine citizens of Ireland crossed into the United States illegally near Drew Road in Richford, Vermont, federal prosecutors said. A boy was airlifted to a hospital after officials say he stepped on hot coals that had been illegally dumped on a New Jersey beach. A child suffered a minor injury after the Westfield Day Care Center had to be evacuated after a ceiling tile fell on the afternoon of Thursday, Aug. 1, authorities said. A Jackson Township man was accused of leaving his two-month-old daughter in a hot vehicle, causing the baby to die, authorities said.
