A Wall Township man admitted to stealing a vehicle he borrowed and selling it in Georgia, authorities said. Jaquel Accoo, 29, pleaded guilty on Monday, Oct. 28 to motor vehicle theft and witness tampering, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said in a news release. A man reported to Toms River police on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023, that his vehicle had been stolen. A Monmouth County school community was rallying to support a family whose child was severely injured in an apartment fire, officials said. A Wayside Elementary School student was in stable condition at a hospital, Township of Ocean School District superintendent Kelly Weldon said in a letter to families on Monday, Oct. 28. Rescuers Save Dog Caught In Tide In Jersey Shore Inlet, Firefighters Say
A dog was rescued from an inlet in Cape May County, officials said. The Stone Harbor and North Wildwood fire departments responded to the Hereford Inlet for a water rescue at around 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 28, the Stone Harbor firefighters union said in a Facebook post. Firefighters received a report that a dog named Bruno was swimming far from shore and in distress. A boat crew went to the inlet and quickly found Bruno struggling to swim in the tide. A Brick Township man was killed when he lost control of his motorcycle at an intersection, authorities said. Horace Giambona, 64, died in the crash on Wednesday, Oct. 23, the Brick Township Police Department said in a news release. A child was hospitalized with injuries suffered in a two-alarm fire that ripped through a Monmouth County apartment complex Saturday, Oct. 26, authorities said. A 47-year-old North Plainfield man was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Woodbridge on Saturday, Oct. 25 in which the driver had fled from, authorities said. Mario Ortiz Bonilla was found dead in the front passenger's seat of the 2017 Kia Sportage on Route 9 and Green Street in Woodbridge just after 9:05 a.m., Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Woodbridge PD Director Robert Hubner said.
