Man Brought Hunting Bow, Knife To Middle School: Middlesex PD

A 30-year-old Warren man was arrested and charged on Tuesday, March 18, after he was found to be in possession of a hunting bow and a knife near a middle school in Middlesex, authorities said.

At 11:31 a.m., officers responded to a report of a man, later identified as Robert Villa, with a camouflaged bag used for transporting weapons, trespassing at Von E. Mauger Middle School, Middlesex police said.

The middle school along with Woodland Intermediate School and Watchung Elementary School went into a shelter in place, police said. Villa fled the scene before police arrived, but he was later located and found to be in possession of a hunting bows and a knife, police said.

Villa was charged with three counts of unlawful possession of weapons on school property, police said.
