Dirlei Da luz Da Silva was wanted by Brazilian authorities for failing to appear to serve his 12 year, 10-month sentence for drug trafficking, ICE said.
Da Silva was originally arrested last year by U.S. Border Patrol near El Paso, ICE said. Da Silva was served with a notice to appear and was released on his own recognizance, ICE said.
Brazilian authorities issued a warrant for Da Silva's arrest in January, ICE said. Da Silva remains in ICE custody, authorities said.
