Cops ID Man Struck, Killed On Route 37 In Toms River A 56-year-old Ocean County Man was killed after he was struck by a vehicle while crossing Route 37 on the evening of Tuesday, Feb. 4., authorities said. At 9:02 p.m., a 2021 Honda Civic driven by a Barnegat man was traveling westbound on Route 37, when it hit Jason Matthews, an Island Heights resident, as he was crossing the roadway, Toms River police said. As a result of the crash, Matthews was transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River where he was pronounced dead, police said.  Multiple lanes of Route 37 were shut down for several hours while the investigation …

Jersey Shore Road Reopens 12+ Hours After Tractor-Trailer Crashes Into Utility Pole A tractor-trailer crashed into a utility pole in Monmouth County, shutting down a road for more than 12 hours, officials said. Crews responded to the crash on Broadway between Locust Avenue and Route 36 on Thursday, June 6, the West Long Branch Office of Emergency Management posted on Facebook at 4:09 p.m.  No injuries were reported in the wreck. Police set up detours and firefighters responded to help at the scene.  Jersey Central Power & Light crews worked to repair the utility pole after "a few homes" lost power. Driver, 32, Airlifted In Garden State Parkway Rollover Crash, Police Say (Update) One person was airlifted in a crash on the Garden State Parkway in Ocean County on Sunday, May 19, authorities said. A Honda passenger car and Ford pickup truck were both heading south when the two collided near milepost 83.8 around 3:30 p.m., New Jersey State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said. The crash caused the Ford to run off the right side of the roadway and overturn in Toms River, Lebron said.
